As supply chains continue to evolve, multimodal transport is becoming increasingly important for improving cargo connectivity across Indonesia. Marking an important milestone, New Priok Container Terminal One (NPCT1), together with SITC, one of the leading shipping lines and Bintang Laut Platinum (BLP), a multimodal logistics provider specializing in rail cargo transportation, recently completed the first trial movement of import transshipment cargo using rail from Jakarta to Semarang.
The initiative demonstrates how collaboration among logistics partners can unlock new opportunities and support the development of Indonesia's multimodal transport ecosystem.
The trial involved the movement of three ISO tank containers carrying Class 3 Dangerous Goods (DG), discharged from MV AS CASPRIA 378N from Qingdao, China, through NPCT1 in Tanjung Priok, Jakarta, to Semarang. After gate-out from NPCT1, the containers were transported by road to Kampung Bandan, Jakarta Railway Station before continuing by rail to the Ronggowarsito, Semarang Railway Station Integrated Logistics Hub in Semarang. From there, the containers were transported to Semarang Container Terminal (Terminal Petikemas Semarang).
Throughout the trial, NPCT1, SITC, and BLP worked closely with Customs and other relevant stakeholders to ensure the cargo moved safely, securely, and in full compliance with applicable regulations.
Beyond the successful multimodal movement, the trial strengthened collaboration among logistics partners, railway providers, and government authorities. This collaboration promotes seamless, efficient, and reliable cargo movements and reinforces the shared commitment of NPCT1, SITC, and BLP to advance multimodal transportation as a practical solution for cargo distribution beyond the port.
